Friday we were hit with tornadoes and heavy rainfall quickly within a 2 hour period. I rushed home as I had to prepare 2 shows for the night. I took the normal route. It became a nightmare very fast.
The rain didn't appear as strong as I came through but it was picking up. The first bridge I cross had water flow over it but it was low enough for me to cross so I took it.
I continued for less than a quarter mile up the road to the second bridge. That was bad. The water from the parallel creek had flowed over. Even a lineman truck wouldn't cross and there was already a speedster van stuck in the waters in the center.
I turned around so I could go back the other way. By the time I reached the entrance with the first road bridge it was too late. The waters burst through.
I was stuck in between these for two hours as I went to the center of the road which is the highest point. The water kept pouring through. The rain didn't relent. I was now an hour out on Truth Be Told to go live.
I was able to secure a ride on the other side of the waters. I just needed to cross. Emergency crews were already attending to the first van and also a magical idiot in a dually who sped through everyone through the first waters and others on the street. He endangered himself and became stuck needing rescue from his truck.
However I put on my bags and equipment and went forward to get to my ride. The waters were high but I treaded through. I was determined to reach it. I could have. The currents were strong though. The center of the waters was waist high. I made it almost halfway through but firefighters made me turn back.
I was stuck. I couldn't leave.
I had to send emails and make calls to postpone/cancel - which I hate. I hate it when it happens to me especially when they no-show.
After doing this and calling a Shen Yun rep with the news I had to wait and the rains were not stopping and the water kept rising. Also, I was soaking wet and my cigar too.
So, I waited. Two people that lived on the road with farms talked to me several times. One invited me back to his shop - and offered beer which sounded like a good match at that point. The other kept checking. I was at the point of the road where his property entrance was.
With 25 minutes until Truth Be told was to go live I received help from one of the guys who had a truck large enough to get through the first bridge. Farmers have what they need. They go through it all. Flood? Nothing to fret. Been there. Done that.
I made phone calls quickly to get the show back on for the night. It was far too important. I have work to do. I work too hard at this and the hours that I put in to succeed would astound people. Nevertheless we were able to get the time set for 7:30 pm.
John got me back. I quickly got into the suit and the show was back on - a little late.
That's why I get highly annoyed by these artificial influencers and so-called journalists - these narcissistic self-promoters constantly on social media. I am sick and tired of these people who misguide people and lie and PROFIT from it. They steal other people's content and they succeed while those people have to fight through censorship after the long and arduous time they work.
Nevertheless, the first and foremost responsibility is to inform. True growth and influence comes after. Never relent when things get in your way. Don't be bothered by those you see succeeding while seemingly doing what you do. There will be a breakthrough and the payoff will be far larger.
Even if there isn't, you went through and did the work which truly matters.
